Everything looks perfect from far away Mar. 24th, 2005 @ 04:04 am
Insomnia has gripped me once again.

I've been working on a few projects lately, from t-shirt [de]construction to dresses to hunter orange leg warmers. Fun times, fun times. I don't have any pictures, because I suck, but rest assured, I'm keeping busy.

Now I'm having to work around moving, which kind of sucks but is ultimately a great thing. I'm moving to Tampa, which I think will be better for business and I'm (hopefully) getting at least $40,000 from the sale of my house, which will partially go to the business fund and the procurement of essential machinery for said business. Finally, we'll be able to make our own tees!

By the way, I'm selling at Cafepress (a temporary thing, I'm hoping). I have one of my shirts on the way so I can see what it really looks like. The one thing I'm really unhappy with is the base price of most of the items. They are asking way more than I would be were I doing this on my own. I understand the needs of businesses to cover their costs, but it just sucks that it has to be taken out on the customer.

The House of Shai also now has an official Myspace page. If you're on Myspace, friend us!

Well, that's all for now. I'm too drained to think any longer.

Sorry I haven't updated in a while! I've had projects continuously overlapping each other (the norm, in my life) and haven't had time to really stop and make a good post with pictures and the like. Also, the acquisition of a boyfriend has completely swallowed up all of my free weekends. ^_^

Right now I'm working on a skirt. Hopefully I'll get to post a picture soon (my digital camera has yet to be reinstalled on this computer since it was formatted). Soon, I'm hoping to start learning how to make beaded bracelets. Just trying to expand my horizons!

Lately, I've been coming up with more ideas on what to paint on my walls than anything. Hopefully, I'll recover from that phase soon and be able to focus myself again.

Make over Oct. 8th, 2004 @ 06:31 pm
I've given the website a make over. Well, it's not done yet. But when it is, I'll put it up.

I feel better, now... Sep. 30th, 2004 @ 02:52 am
I updated the website. Mostly, I just fixed some things that were bothering me.

Soon, I'm going to get my sell-able things together and recruit some model types to look all snazzy in my outfits.

Another day in the life... Sep. 30th, 2004 @ 01:19 am
I really need to update the website.

I'm so unorganized, lately. Between personal things and these stupid hurricanes, I haven't had time to do much sewing!

Ethical Threads wrote me back - they suggested a few businesses for me to look into as far as ordering t-shirts, but I think I'd like to go with American Apparel, because I've heard those are very comfortable and long lasting, as well.

Right now, I've got a beautiful, light pink chiffon-esque fabric that I'm going to make a sort of a go-go/lingirie dress. It's hard to explain.

I'm also working on 2 skirts for Kat, which will get done...eventually. I'm really lacking time and energy.

» [neglect!]
Sorry I've been so neglectful lately. I've been working on completely boring stuff and making very little, so that's why the updates have been sparse.

Anyway, I will have something up within the next week or so, I hope!
» Mmm, the sweet smell of ethics
Sent an email to Ethical Threads regarding their wholesale list. I think they're based out of England, so I wonder if they even ship to the US? I'll find out soon, I guess.

Haven't been making anything lately. I'm in my business-y phase.

If anyone asks me who my inspiration is right now, I'd say Noam Chomsky. I love the man. I want to have his grand children. I guess he keeps me thinking in a straight line.....and enraged at our country, but that's another post for another journal.

» Skirty-ful
I know I've been all about the skirts lately. I'm actually working on a top right now that seems to be working out pretty well. It's uber slutty.

In fact, I will probably wind up naming it "la mujerzuela". Or Amber. lol

Just wanted to put that out there. I've been on a skirt spree for a while only because it's much faster (and easier) to turn those out.
